MECHINES: The Art Of War

Mechines story is situated in far future, where new civilizations emerged in distant systems formed clan based societies and colonized nearby planets. After third clan war, their realm was upon the edge of destruction. In this period they formed Great Clan Coalition (GCC) which controlled global situation, while power was still in hands of clan commands. Peace was kept for almost 2000 years, mostly thanks to collective energy source, called Central Transformer. It was built on neutron star and supplied huge ammounts of energy to all clans. After discovering of star lane technology two clans, Fomalhaut and Alnair, built great number of star lanes. Lanes brought prosperity and increase in trade, but also consumed extreme ammounts of energy, and caused problems with Central Transformer. Clans accused each other for problems with transformer. Tensions, followed by boycots and blockades damaged trade and caused great loss of profit to all clans and their corporations. Minor clans have convoked a summit to resolve problems and restore peace, but Fomalhaut clan saw great opportunity to impose itself and become the leader of GCC. Fomalhaut has, under excuse of preventing new star lane construction, launched an attack on Alnair base. Situation differed from their plans, because Alnair clan gathered some information about a lost civilization which could lead them to a tottaly different approach to the problem. They concealed whole incident, but Fomalhaut clan already made plan for killing Alnair summit emissaries in order to cause large scale conflict.
